New Features in DIAdem 2021 SP1 - Date: October 2021


General
- By participating in the NI Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP), under which NI periodically collects data related to your use of our products, you can help our engineers improve the performance and capabilities of our products. This information will not be used to identify or contact you, or shared with third parties.
- The redesigned DIAdem panel bar shows the active panel more clearly.
- The Help menu has been restructured and the entries “About DIAdem” and “Support” have been moved to the DIAdem settings.
- The units catalog contains the new unit “AbsTime”, which corresponds with the symbol “s” and can be used in the future as a unit in absolute time channels.
DIAdem NAVIGATOR, DataFinder, Data Portal
- During reduced loading of xy-channels, x-channel references are preserved.
- Bus Log Converter supports Lin_Message2 data sets in Vector BLF files.
- The Bus Log Converter supports the filtering of specific signals.
- The Bus Log Converter dialog box has been restructured in order to optimize the interactive workflow.
- The ATFX_TDM DataPlugin also supports complex channel types.
- The Data Portal now shows xy-channels above the x-channel in the channel preview.
DIAdem VIEW
- In the bird's eye VIEW display, you can specify the size and color of the symbols for dynamic objects depending on the channel data, in order to visualize the reliability of these objects, for example.
- In the bird's eye VIEW display, you can now also enable an isometric data display.
DIAdem REPORT
- The pie chart can now optionally display data from a channel or values that are entered directly.
DIAdem ANALYSIS
- DIAdem supports xy-channels in calculations and also displays them in the dialog box preview. Only specify the xy-channel as a y-channel in calculations and not an x-channel. DIAdem will use the x-channel associated with the xy-channel automatically.
- The crash function Normalized Neck Injury Criterion (Nij) offers the option of performing the Nij calculation for each characteristic value individually or for all characteristic values simultaneously. In the case of simultaneous calculation, the result values can be normalized and the preview indicates whether the results are within the specified limits.
DIAdem Script
- DIAdem can also display error and warning messages in the logfile if no SCRIPT license is available.
- Python scripts are now easier to debug. The necessary Python module can be easily installed via the SCRIPT settings. You can also abort the debugging of Python scripts using the <ESC> key, for example if you have not set up the external debugger.
- You can debug Analysis Automation procedures (*.anp) for SystemLink TDM that use Python scripts in DIAdem.
- DIAdem rejects the processing of Analysis Automation procedures (*.anp) for SystemLink TDM that contain Jupyter analysis procedures.
- You can abort the execution of Python scripts using the <ESC> key.
- CodeCompletion also works in Python scripts for the standard object item of a collection, even if you do not specify the item.
- The selection of the Python version to be used has been improved.
Dialog Editor
- In the dialog editor, you can also align the slider control vertically. If you interactively insert the control in a dialog box, DIAdem automatically selects the optimum orientation.
Preview Features
Preview features give an outlook on features in future versions. The functions to be unlocked are still under development and the user interface, the API, or the scope of functions may change. Enable this function in the Settings»DIAdem Settings» Preview Features dialog box.
- The DIAdem Python environment also supports Python version 3.9.
- DIAdem supports complex channels. You can load and save complex channels. You can convert numeric channels to complex channels and vice versa.

DIAdem 2021 SP1 Bug Fixes


1392315 DIAdem stops responding when you try to establish a connection via the MQTT protocol.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1400302 NAVIGATOR: If you import multiple files via a DataPlugin, in some cases the loaded channels contain a postfix.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1420202 SCRIPT: If you use the method LoadProperty for Navigator in a Python script it leads to an error message.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1436927 ANALYSIS: In the Resampling dialog box, you cannot select the interpolation method if you have selected "Automatic" as the mapping mode.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1451834 SCRIPT: The ChnConcat command does not append text channels to each other in quantity-based mode.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1451873 SCRIPT: If you assign a value to the variable GenTimeXBeg in a SystemLink analysis automation procedure you will get an error.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1452947 ANALYSIS: The functions "Remove Duplicates" did not treat the text "NoValue" in text channels as NoValue.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1461191 Bus Log Converter: Under certain circumstances MDF4 log files that contain a bit offset cannot be opened.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1468653 SCRIPT: If you have not yet loaded a script file into the SCRIPT editor, you cannot start a script file using the "Script»Run Script from File" menu.
Workaround:Load a script file into the editor.

1474852 REPORT: In a 2D axis system with the display type "Filled area" DIAdem ignores the setting "No Color" for the line color.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1477217 VIEW: In a video area, you cannot specify values less than one as the playback speed.
Workaround:Set the value by script.

1491661 VIEW: If you delete channels in a 2D axis system very quickly, DIAdem may crash.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1505002 SCRIPT: The end-of-line character is not recognized correctly in the functions TextFileOpen and TextFileEOL.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1532160 REPORT: In a pie chart, valid slices can be deleted.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1533331 REPORT/SCRIPT: Using a sript you can assign a negative number of slices of a pie chart. After that DIAdem does not react anymore.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1540533 DAC: Adding drivers using the "Driver Function Groups" dialog no longer works.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1558576 ANALYSIS: DIAdem ignores the last parameter of the function ChnEventCreateXYChannels, which should determine the index of the event.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1563756 DAC: Counter-based measurements in the hardware clock measurement mode with the DAQmx driver only work with one counter input. With multiple counter inputs, the measurement data of the counter inputs are randomly mixed up during the measurement.

1564005 ANALYSIS: In single classification, values that are below the lowest class are always assigned to the lowest class, regardless of the "Use open boundary classes" setting.

1575628 REPORT: In case of a monochrome 3D surface display, DIAdem ignores the color of the bottom side.

1593781 ANALYSIS: The "Mirror Channel" function unintentionally applies waveform parameters or existing X/Y relationships from the original channel.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

1602711 DAC/VISUAL: In a running measurement you cannot change the frame and background color of the digit display.
Workaround:Change the display settings when the measurement is not running.

1614747 REPORT: In a 3D surface display, DIAdem projects the grid lines onto the xy-plane in addition to the isolines.
Workaround:There is currently no known workaround for this issue.

Note DIAdem runs only with restrictions on the N or KN edition of Windows because the multimedia support is missing. You can obtain this as "Media Feature Pack" from Microsoft and install it later.
