The software developer Tecplot, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of Tecplot 360 2021 R2 m1 (2021.2.1.9698). The improvements and bug fixes in this release add up to ease-of-use and a big timesaving. Bug Fixes and Enhancements in 2021.2.1- Some users with non-US decimal separator system settings on Windows and macOS reported issues where some text fields refused to accept decimal values. This issue has been fixed.- Layout package files (.lpk) were overly constrained in the 2019 release to about a ~4Gb file size limit. Saving files larger than the limit gave an error message. This release restores the previous behavior (in 360 2018 R2 and earlier), and adds an informative error message in situations where the .lpk limit has been reached while saving.- An issue has been fixed where 360 was limited in the number of license files that it could access from a license server, preventing some users from utilizing multiple licenses hosted on the same server. These limits have been removed.- Fixed an issue where licenses which use an activation code were not automatically updating at expiration. This affected 2021 R2 builds downloaded between November and mid-December. Quality of Life Improvements:- Labelling a plot is more flexible with the ability for users to edit the contour legend header without editing the variable names. This update supports the inclusion of auxiliary data and other text modifiers supported by Tecplot 360.- Users can now opt to show zones only at specified solution time, which ensures the correct zones are displayed.- Support for logarithmic time scales has been added to correctly cluster solution time steps.- Divide-by-zero errors can be ignored with a simple toggle during analysis.Performance Improvements:- Temporary disk storage usage has been reduced by 99.6%! This reduction has resulted in up to a 20% performance improvement when creating movies with transient data.- Initializing contour levels for transient datasets with many zones consistently showed up to a 23.8x speedup over previous versions.Loader Improvements:- The Fluent CFF (HDF5) loader is supported on CentOS and RedHat7 and includes face-neighbor connections.- The Plot3D loader treats function files as transient if they appear to have a time value in the file name. Tecplot 360 is the leading independent CFD post-processor in the industry and this release cements our commitment to being the best visualization and analysis tool for a wide variety of CFD simulation results. The new Ansys Fluent Common Fluids Format (CFF) HDF5 file loader in this release saves Fluent users both time and disk space by reading their CFF data directly without a conversion step. This allows Fluent users to realize other advantages of the CFF format such as it being faster for Fluent to write as well as file sizes being smaller. This release also includes support for Ansys CFX 2021 and Abaqus 2021 data files. Other data loaders that received stability improvements include: OpenFOAM, Nastran, and various CAD formats. For CFD code developers, we have seen up to an order of magnitude performance improvement to TecIO-MPI (parallel version of the TecIO library), which writes Tecplot SZL (*.szplt) files. What is new in Tecplot 360 2021 R1 • Fluent Common Fluid File (HDF5) data loader - allows loading of *.dat.h5 and *.cas.h5 files directly into Tecplot.

• Load interior faces with Macro option “IncludeInteriorFaceZones”.
• Known Issue: Internal boundaries between volume zones are visible (no global face neighbor information).
• Known Issue: Additional Quantities are not written to the Fluent CFF files as they were in classic Fluent files, thus Tecplot cannot load these variables.
• Abaqus loader - now supports Abaqus 2021 files.
• CFX loader - updated to support CFX 2021 files.
• TecIO-MPI - performance improved by an order of magnitude when exporting thousands of zones.
Bug Fixes, and Enhancements
• Fixed crash when displaying contour coloring for some OpenFOAM datasets.
• Fixed crash when creating streaklines with cell centered data.
• Removed invalid error message when performing an Integration by Strand.
• Fixed issue with various loaders that create the Node User ID variable where values were being truncated.
• Fixed crash when using $!CreateSliceFromPlane when the slice position passes through a region with no data.
• Fixed crash when clicking on a slice or iso-surface after Data Alter error.
• Style is no longer lost when adding zones to existing Strand Ids (e.g. using the Edit Time Strands, Axial Duplicate, Duplicate Zones dialogs).
• Fixed menu access for Key Frame and GUI builder dialogs on Mac.
