Side-by-side Installation allows you to adopt OpenBuildings Speedikon 2023 without upgrading your current installation of OpenBuildings Speedikon CONNECT Edition mid-project. If you already have a previous version of OpenBuildings Speedikon on your machine, OpenBuildings Speedikon 2023 will be installed as a separate application.
ProjectWise Drive as a Companion Feature
ProjectWise Drive is now included in the installer as a companion feature. With ProjectWise Drive, you can edit Speedikon projects on a local or network drive and back up the project data to the cloud at the same time. The project data in the cloud can then be easily accessed via ProjectWise 365, e.g., with a tablet without Speedikon installation. Also, refer to the help ProjectWise Drive Integration with OpenBuildings Speedikon. An extra ProjectWise Manage or ProjectWise Engineer license is required to use ProjectWise Drive.
New application version naming and numbering
- Bentley now uses a consistent scheme for version naming and numbering. The CONNECT Edition name is replaced with the calendar year of the original release date of the major version. This makes it easier for you to determine the support timeframe for the version and to identify compatible product versions. Application Version Name is defined in the following form: <Application name> <Major version>.
- You will find more information about this topic in the FAQ of the Bentley Lifecycle Policy under the topic “How will application version naming and numbering work under this new policy?”
Unchanged file format
Although there has been a version name change to the calendar year 2023, the OpenBuildings Speedikon and MicroStation file format has not been changed.
Integrated MicroStation 2023.1
OpenBuildings Speedikon 2023 includes the full MicroStation 2023.1 functionality except for the Technology Preview Features. More information on the new functionality in MicroStation 2023.1 can be found in the OpenBuildings Speedikon Help and the MicroStation Forum for 2023 and 2023.00.01.
Security Improvements
This release also includes the latest Speedikon and MicroStation security improvements. The details will be found on our Trust Center website under Security > Common Vulnerability Exposure (CVE) Program.
ProjectWise 2023 Support
OpenBuildings Speedikon 2023 is compatible with ProjectWise CONNECT Edition Update 3.4 and ProjectWise 2023. The ProjectWise Configurator Tool has been updated accordingly. The ProjectWise 2023 Explorer Client is available on Software Downloads, the ProjectWise 2023 Design Integration Server is not yet released at the time of writing. You will find more information in Released Versions and the ProjectWise Compatibility Tool

Windows 11 fix
On some workstations with Windows 11 operating system, when opening a file in OpenBuildings Speedikon Update 4.2, an additional window always appeared with the information C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\OpenBuildingsSpeedikon\x86\McrCOMSrv32.exe. To work, the window had to be minimized. This problem has been fixed.
WorkSet mismatch alert appears again
Changing the assigned WorkSpace and WorkSet in the Speedikon Project Manager and then opening a file that had already been branded to a WorkSet is now again leading to a mismatch alert with the option to select the desired WorkSet. In OpenBuildings Speedikon CONNECT Edition Update 4.2 no message appeared.
