太鲁阁国家公园，是台湾著名“国家公园”之一，位于台湾岛东部，地跨花莲县、台中县、南投县三个行政区。园内有台湾第一条东西横贯公路通过，称为中横公路系统。400万年前，欧亚大陆板块与菲律宾海洋板块相互撞击，剧烈的地壳变动，使台湾地层急剧上升，千万年来，立雾溪丰沛的河水不断切割太鲁阁这块台湾地质史上最古老的大理岩层，于是，形成了最独特的大理石峡谷的壮阔景观。整个峡谷全是大理石，采用不尽；山里宝石遍地，限制人员进山。
