The EPLAN Data Portal development team has unveiled EPLAN EDZ parts library (Select Edition) for EPLAN P8 Platform. This parts library (.EDZ) enables you to drag and drop pre-drawn components into your own document or project, to create accurate and up to date documentation for your prototype products.

The EPLAN Data Portal serves as an exchange portal between manufacturers of components and the designers of electrical engineering. It provides the master data of various manufacturers for downloading. In addition to alphanumeric parts data, this master data contains schematic macros, multi-language parts information, preview images, documents, etc. The data is directly integrated into the EPLAN platform during the download.

Access to the EPLAN Data Portal is provided for all EPLAN customers who have logged on as users of the Portal. Use of all the Portal functionalities, however, is only possible for EPLAN customers who are holding the proper license.

An EDZ file is a data archive used by EPLAN Electric P8, a program used to plan, document, and manage electrical control, fluid power systems, and control systems projects. It contains macros for parts and parts data, such as control units, sensor modules, and line modules. In order to import EDZ files into EPLAN Electric P8, select Utilities → Parts → Management then click [Extras] → Import…, which opens the "Import records" dialog. Then choose the "EPLAN Data Portal Exchange Format", which is the EDZ file, in the file type field.
